When The Broad Backs received an offer that could not be refused, it was time for the team and Jaap de Witte to separate their ways. The rider, whom came through from the team's talent pool, was the sole reason the team climbed the ranks up towards Zyte Division. He will be missed, although the time to sell him could not have come at a better moment as he just turned 28.
With De Witte's departure, it is time for The Broad Backs to reinvent itself. On the short term, the riders are present to score some nice results in either Volta ao Porto or Norway Tour, with Jasper Sófussson being contracted as the team captain, who will probably ride either of these tours in top form.
Apart from that, The Broad Backs has invested in two young new captains. Hajnal Iván is the team's captain for the flat races, where The Broad Backs is yet to invest in expanding his support team. For the mountains and hills, Bor Repše was contracted and being trained to quickly become the team's new captain for the climbing races. It depends on his eventual skills whether the team will also invest in a new captain exclusively for the mountains.
Overall, the team has enough funds to improve the team in several aspects. Whether The Broad Backs will remain high up the ranks is questionable. However, the team has all the confidence in the world to eventually build a team strong enough to fight for its place in Top Division.
